Problem
Keeping track of what you or your friends want is difficult- constantly jumping between websites and apps, remembering to save items when you think of them, and knowing if you're getting the right thing.

Keepsake brings gift-planning and buying into one place, making it easier to plan, decide, and buy what you get your loved ones. Users can customize their own wishlists, share it with others, and keep track of the dates of important events like birthdays. By acting as a central hub for all things to do with special occasions, the app turns gift giving from just another task to a meaningful, collaborative experience.
User Research
To better understand how people typically handle gift giving, I conducted interviews and a survey of over 40 people. The goal was to better understand the process people go through from idea to completion of the gift-giving process, as well as of the attitude around planning and remembering special events.

Through both surveys and interviews, I found that people tend to rely on memory, notes app lists, or multiple online platforms to keep track of what to get their loved ones as gifts. They also struggle with knowing how to give a meaningful gift that is also useful for the recipient.

Over half of survey participants stated that they often forget gift ideas or the dates of special occasions.

Takeaways
This project showed how difficult it is to keep ideas together when jumping across platforms or relying on memory is how most people make wishlists for themselves and others. Research showed that an all-in-one platform from idea to purchase could help resolve this issue.
Features like in-app purchasing, adding friends, and an events calendar helps reduce overwhelm and keeps the process of gift-giving stress free. Overall, this project revealed the importance of cohesion in problem solving and designing with purpose.
